Client Testimonials
I’ve recently returned back to the UK after a trip to NSW to visit family. I love the Blue Mountains and as it’s a couple of hours away from where the family live, I always use the opportunity to go walking in this stunningly beautiful region with its gum tree covered valleys and dramatic cliff faces.
A few years ago and not knowing the area, I discovered “River Deep Mountain High”, a small company based in Katoomba. RDMH specialise in walking trips in the area, as well as other activities like water canyoning, abseiling, to see and appreciate the best parts of this World Heritage Area.
The first RDMH trip I went on was a memorable day’s bush walk with the company owner Craig, where I discovered the beauty of the valleys and the spectacular views, away from the crowds. Craig’s knowledge of the area, wildlife and flora/fauna really added to the day. Since then I’ve always made a point of including in my itinerary (and a condition to my partner that I’m allowed a couple of days on my own while seeing her family!), to book some time with the guys at RDMH. With them, I’ve been on a photo safari improving my photography, camped overnight in the valley and seen a “mob” of kangaroos at sunset while we were sampling wine and cheese in our fold up chairs, seen Aborigine cave paintings, a glow worm tunnel, and heard the deafening sound of Cicadas at dusk.
Last month, on my most recent trip, Craig suggested I might like to try Water Canyoning? I said I’d give it a try and am I glad I did. While I was the “old guy” in the party I felt I kept up with the others as we jumped off, wearing wet suits, various small waterfalls and waded chest deep or swam in sheltered canyons to areas of the National Park that you could not see by any other route. Absolutely stunning scenery and an “awesome” experience even if I needed to go to bed by 7pm that night!
The following day I went with them on a bushwalk. Expecting a more genteel stroll, in comparison to the previous day, this became more dramatic by a turn in the weather that included thunder/lightning and hailstones the size of marbles. (I’ve been dining out on my Watercanyoning and “Cloudy With The Chance of Marbles!” experiences since.
I would genuinely recommend talking to RDMH if you’re interested in really tasting and experiencing the true beauty of the Blue Mountains. The Blue Mountains is infinitely more than a coach journey to the Visitors Centre to take a quick photo of the Three Sisters. The staff at RDMH are knowledgeable, friendly, always have an eye on your requirements and safety and are keen for you to have a good time. I’ve found consistently they all have a genuine passion/love of the area.
On Boxing Day, I proposed to my partner and we are planning to return to Orange for a fortnight in May to get married, I’m not sure on THIS occasion if I will be allowed my usual 2 days out with RDMH, but they are definitely on my schedule for future trips. – Thanks Guys – really appreciated!
Best regards for 2010

Dear RDMH,
I just wanted to drop you a quick note to express my thanks and appreciation for the wonderful time we had last weekend.
The purpose of our abseiling and camping trip was to introduce my family to abseiling and in particular to prepare my eldest son for a cadet camp in the holidays. Both our boys are far from timid and are frequently more adventurous than their parents but my eldest had a bad abseiling experience many years ago as a result of poor instruction and management by those running a abseiling base at a fair. As a consequence he was very aware that he had a mental obstacle to overcome and hence the trip.
I would like to pass on our deep gratitude to Paul for the highly professional, patient and understanding way he ran the trip. My son was able to do the 5m reasonable confidently but baulked at the 10m drop on the first pass. That he then came back at the end of the day and with Paul’s sensitive handling, was able to re-attempt the 5m and then conquer the 10m twice, was fantastic. Having overcome his fears I believe he would have then completed the 30m had we had a little more time! He now has the confidence to take on the abseiling challenges at cadets in style.
The rest of my family had a fantastic experience in the build-up and with the confidence gained, managed the final 60m drop with ease. Having myself taught others to abseil and climb in years past, I appreciated the thoroughness of the set-up, instruction and your splendid site near Scenic World; those bomb-proof bolts are truly awesome.
We then went onto your camp in the Megalong Valley and were very spoilt by the luxury of a fixed camp and Paul’s cooking. I hope your plans for the site come to fruition; it is a lovely location.
Can you please pass on our sincere thanks once again to Paul; I would be most happy to recommend him, Matt and your Company to others seeking a memorable and quality adventure sports experience.

Hi Guys
I would like to start this email by saying, I had the time of my life yesterday. I had no idea canyoning was so much fun. I want to take the opportunity to say that a major contributor to how well the day went was due to our two guides which took us, Paul (corky) and Ian. These guys were unbelievable in there organisation and knowledge throughout the day. They also knew how to have and create a good time. OH&S plays a major role in today's world, again these guys were very strict when it came to safety without it effecting the fun. It was refreshing to see this level of responsibility in the guides.
I will definitely be coming back in the future for social and work functions and will be requesting Corky and Ian as the guides to take us. I want to thank these guys again for yesterday’s good time. Please pass this message on to them.
Thanks
